Brand new release: Pipe 1.6

Brand new release Pipe 1.6

We are pleased to announce that we’ve updated Pipe. With Pipe 1.6 you’ll find a number of updates…

  • Added security enhancements.
  • Added an option to allow video file upload through the Pipe Recorder field.
  • Added support for multiple Pipe Recorder fields per form.

This release also includes security enhancements, along with fixes that improve how Pipe works alongside Advanced Post Creation, Conversational Forms, and the form editor.

More ways to collect video

Pipe 1.6 gives you more flexibility in how people share video through your forms.

Not everyone wants to record a video on the spot. Some people already have the perfect clip saved on their phone or computer.

With the new upload option on the Pipe Recorder field, you can let users submit an existing video file instead of recording a new one, so you don’t lose a great submission just because it was filmed earlier.

You can now also add more than one Pipe Recorder field to the same form. That makes it easy to ask for several separate videos in a single submission, such as a short introduction and a product demo, or one answer per interview question, without splitting the process across multiple forms.

For more information on using the Pipe Add-On, be sure to check out the Gravity Forms documentation.

Add video recording to your WordPress forms

The Gravity Forms Pipe integration lets you collect video directly through your WordPress forms. Add a Pipe field to any form, and your users can record video right in their browser on desktop or mobile.

It’s a natural fit for video testimonials, job applications, customer support requests, audition and contest entries, and any other situation where seeing and hearing someone says more than a text box can.

Users can review their recording before submitting, and each video is stored securely so you can access it alongside the rest of the entry.

Key features of Pipe

  • Desktop and mobile support – Users can record video from their browser on almost any device, without downloading an app.
  • Automatic MP4 conversion – Every recording is converted to MP4, so videos play back reliably wherever you need them.
  • Review before submitting – Users can watch their recording before they send it, so you receive the take they’re happy with.
  • Secure, flexible storage – Keep recordings stored securely with Pipe, or send them to your own storage.
  • Video file uploads – Give users the option to upload a video they’ve already recorded.
  • Multiple recorder fields – Collect several separate videos in a single form submission.

Note: Pipe is available with the Gravity Forms Pro, Elite, and Nonprofit licenses. Visit our pricing page for more information on the features and other add-ons available on each plan.

Note: After updating, clear your site’s cache to ensure you’re running the latest version. We also recommend excluding pages that include Gravity Forms from caching and script optimization, as cached form pages can interfere with dynamic population, field validation, the honeypot, and add-ons that rely on time-sensitive tokens.

Read our FAQ on Cache and Script Optimizer Issues for details and exclusion steps by host/plugin.
