We’re pleased to announce the release of Geolocation 1.5.3 with the following updates…
- Updated the form setting to enable collecting the user’s location on submit by default.
- Fixed an issue where the user location is not saved when the form is submitted using new Ajax.
- Fixed an issue where the Street Address value can still be saved to the entry after being cleared from the input while using the new Google Places API.
Know exactly where your submissions are coming from
A name and an address only tell you so much about a submission. The Gravity Forms Geolocation feature adds real location context to any form.
That context is useful in more ways than you might expect. A local business can see which submissions come from nearby customers. A field service company can spot patterns in where requests originate. A support team can catch when someone’s location doesn’t match what they claimed on the form.
None of this changes what someone has to do when filling out your form. They still just type an address like they always would. Everything else happens in the background.
Here’s a closer look at what Geolocation can do.
Key features of Geolocation
- Address autocomplete – Let users complete addresses by typing just a few characters, cutting down on typos and errors.
- Location data capture – Store geographic coordinates and additional Google Places details alongside every form submission.
- Map visualization – See a Google Map right inside each entry, showing exactly where a submission came from.
- Google Places integration – Runs on the Google Places API, using your own API key to power autocomplete and mapping.

Note: Geolocation is available with the Gravity Forms Elite and Nonprofit licenses. Visit our pricing page for more information on the features and other add-ons available on each plan.

If you are an Elite or Nonprofit Gravity Forms license holder, Geolocation can be updated to version 1.5.3 in your WordPress dashboard, or downloaded manually from your Gravity account.
Note: After updating, clear your site’s cache to ensure you’re running the latest version. We also recommend excluding pages that include Gravity Forms from caching and script optimization, as cached form pages can interfere with dynamic population, field validation, honeypot, and add-ons that rely on time-sensitive tokens.
Read our FAQ on Cache and Script Optimizer Issues for details and exclusion steps by host/plugin.
