Connect Gravity Forms to external services to push, pull, and populate data without writing code.

What if your forms could talk to any tool on the web? Imagine validating entries against live government databases or pulling customer details from your CRM the moment a user types their email. Or, perhaps you want to instantly send organized data to your other apps.

Gravity Connect API Alchemist makes this possible.

Gravity Wiz is a third-party certified developer and its add-ons are not supported by Gravity Forms. As always, we recommend you extensively evaluate all plugins to ensure their suitability for your purpose before installation on your website.

What is GC API Alchemist?

Think of it as a bridge that enables two-way conversations between Gravity Forms and the platforms you use every day, such as CRMs, help desks, and automation tools.

Gravity Connect API Alchemist opens that foundation to any service that speaks API. You can pull data in, push data out, validate entries against live databases, or trigger multi-step workflows across your entire tech stack.

If you’re new to APIs, don’t worry! We’ve brewed a  friendly pocket guide that explains everything you need to know. Otherwise, let’s look at what is possible.

Pull and populate data

Gravity Connect API Alchemist connects Gravity Forms to external sources like databases or government registries to pull information directly into your entries. Here are two ways you can use that data to improve your workflows:

Data Lookups

Enrich entries and auto-populate fields

Let’s say you ask for a customer’s email. You can use it to look up their profile in your CRM and automatically pull in their company name, job title, and more. This data saves straight into the entry and enriches your lead data without forcing the user to type it all out.

A user enters an email address in the email field on the front end and views the entry on the backend, with the rest of the contact details filled in.

Taking it further, you can combine this with Gravity Perks Populate Anything. Once you’ve pulled that data, you can then use it to populate other fields in real-time as users interact.

For example, you can instantly display the pulled data from your CRM by populating them in other fields before the user submits the entry.

Validate data against live databases

These lookups are handy for making sure you’re collecting legitimate data by validating inputs against live databases before the form is submitted.

A user submits an invalid VAT number and receives an invalid message, then deletes it and replaces it with a valid VAT number and receives a valid message.

A good example here is validating VAT numbers. When a user enters a tax ID, the form checks it against an official government registry. If the ID is active, the form submits. If not, the user sees an error.

Push Gravity Forms data anywhere

Once you capture a form submission, you may need to send it outside your WordPress site. GC API Alchemist lets you push data to any service with an API.

gcapi-gravity-forms-to-pipedrive

A user fills in a form on the front end and submits it, then switches to a new browser window in Pipedrive, where the newly created deal from the form submission appears.

This opens doors to platforms like n8n, HubSpot, Pipedrive, or custom internal systems.

Automate WordPress workflows

Sending data is often just the first step. The real alchemy happens when you send that data to automation platforms like Zapier and n8n to trigger chains of events across your business systems.

Let’s say a user uploads a PDF invoice. Gravity Connect API Alchemist sends it to n8n, where AI extracts key details like invoice numbers and line items. That structured data then flows automatically into your accounting system or back to your Gravity Forms.

gcapi-response-handling-n8n-pdf-text-callback

The n8n user interface displays the final step of sending PDF text back to Gravity Forms. The entry list shows all extracted text saved in the entry.

You can build processes where a single form submission kicks off an entire sequence of actions, such as creating tickets, updating databases, and sending notifications.

One form submission = multiple steps across multiple platforms.

The Alchemist’s toolkit

Gravity Connect API Alchemist doesn’t have to work alone! It gets even better when paired with other perks from your Spellbook:

  • Gravity Perks Submit to Access lets you grant access to content only if the API responds successfully. This is useful for verifying membership IDs or credentials before unlocking content.
  • Gravity Perks Conditional Logic Dates controls when API calls run based on date rules to check booking availability or validate time-sensitive inputs.
  • Gravity Perks Nested Forms fetches API data in a parent form and passes it down to child forms, keeping everything connected across complex, multi-step processes.

And that’s just scratching the surface. With the full Spellbook at your disposal, the sky’s the limit!

Let’s get building!
