Note: This release includes important security enhancements designed to keep your site safe and performing at its best. We strongly recommend updating to version 2.9.21 as soon as possible to ensure you have the latest protections and improvements. You can download or update directly from your Gravity Forms Account.

New Honeypot settings: Submission Speed Check

New in version 2.9.21, you’ll find a brand new Submission Speed Check setting for Honeypot, adding another layer of spam protection to your forms.

The new Submission Speed Check setting detects and blocks form submissions that happen too quickly to be human. You can also customize the speed threshold and mode to fine-tune how Gravity Forms identifies and handles suspicious activity.

To set it up, enable Honeypot in your form settings, and toggle on the Submission Speed Check setting. Then, set your Submission Speed Check: Threshold (in milliseconds) and Mode.

When to use it

Enable Submission Speed Check if you’re seeing:

  • A spike in bot-generated spam entries.
  • Patterns of near-instant submissions that bypass other spam checks.
  • Repeated identical entries submitted in quick succession.
